Out of the Wings

Out of the Wings has launched!

Friday’s event in King’s College London’s sumptuous River Room was very well attended, with 58 guests from all across the UK and from as far away as Madrid, enjoying wine and nibbles as the project team introduced themselves. Highlights of the evening included a warm welcome address by Catherine Boyle of King’s, an introduction to the nature of translation in this project given by David Johnston of Queen’s in Belfast, Oxford’s Jonathan Thacker stressing the clear and present need for the project’s contribution to increased productions of Spanish drama, along with Paul Spence’s provocative merging of academic research with technological methods at King’s, a fusion at the heart of his work on the project.

We were very happy to host many of our Advisory Group members and our Network of Practitioners, and academic as well as theatre-based colleagues. The room became a microcosm of the forum we hope to create, with the sharing of ideas and burgeoning of relationships which will grow in this fruitful new era of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Now that the site has launched it remains to continue the conversations begun at this event; this blog space represents the first opportunity for you to join in the project by offering your comments and suggestions. Please stay tuned for future news, symposia, play readings and events in addition to the research which will shortly be posted on this website.

We wish to thank all our guests who celebrated with us at the launch, and we invite those who could not be with us to join the conversation here. Step out of the wings!
